But while he’s been having a pretty good year, his past is a bit more turbulent.
In 2010, while filming I’m Still Here, cinematographer Magdelena Gorka accused Affleck of sexual harassment, alleging that he climbed into her bed (intoxicated) one night after shooting and became hostile when asked to leave. She said that during shooting, he would joke about his sexual conquests and frequently encouraged her to have sex with a member of the film crew.
The movie’s producer also accused Affleck of sexual harassment during filming, alleging that Affleck commanded a crew member to show her his genitalia.
The two women sued Affleck in civil court for sexual misconduct and sexual harassment, but they never went to trial and were settled out of court.
That brings us back to today, and the fact that he’s nominated for such an award for his performance has some people up in arms most vocally, Fresh Off the Boat actress Constance Wu.
Wu had previously tweeted about the allegations against Affleck, questioning why more people weren’t talking about it.

So as soon as the nominations were announced this week, she went back to Twitter again.
